Components Symantec Endpoint Protection includes the following core components: The Symantec Endpoint Protection client is installed on the endpoints that you want to protect. It combines antivirus, antispyware,firewall, intrusion prevention system, application control,device control, and TruScan proactive threat scanning technology into a single client. An update to the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager activates those features on the clients. Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager is installed on a computer that you want to host the management server software.Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager communicates with the Symantec Endpoint Protection clients and is configured through the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager Console. Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager Console lets you centrally manage the Symantec Endpoint Protection clients. (System Restore is a component of Microsoft’s Windows Me, Windows XP and Windows Vista operating systems that allows for the rolling back of system files, registry keys, installed programs, etc., to a previous state in the event of malfunctioning or failure.) to see the procedure for creating system restore point. After installing SEP, if you face any machine problem at any point of time, you can revert to the previous state once you create a system restore point. When you restore your machine all the changes you have made after creating the restore point will be lost. It is better to create restore point at regularintervals so that you have the latest possible restore point. Now follow the below pre-installation steps mentioned below for safe and successful installation of the software. Pre-installation Steps Scan the computer in safe mode using the previous version of Symantec installed in your PC or AVG Anti-virus or any reliable antivirus tool from the web remove the viruses if any. Make sure that your PC is free of virus before installing SEP; otherwise you will end up with post installation problems and difficulties with updates and system performance.  (Last resort you can take back-up of important data and format & reinstall OS on your system and then do the antivirus installation.) Uninstall the previous version of installed Symantec (if any) through Control Panel including other antivirus tools if any. Install Symantec Endpoint Protection new version. Updating the Installed Software Use the  for Installing / Updating Symantec Endpoint Protection (only internal / inside campus LANaccessible) Post-installation settings for help on verifying the post installation status of antivirus software and accessing the software features.
